First things first, what does Adsum actually mean?

The word ‘Adsum’ is Latin for "I am here" or "I am present."

It’s a powerful declaration of presence and readiness, often used to signify being fully engaged and accounted for. In a deeper sense, ‘Adsum’ represents a statement of self-assurance and authenticity, a way of claiming one’s place in the world. It encapsulates the idea of showing up, both physically and emotionally, embracing one’s identity and standing strong in one's truth, so for me I felt a sense of being in the ‘now’ and showing up on the canvas in a way I’ve not explored before.

Where did the inspiration for ‘Adsum’ arise?

I was lucky enough to take a long awaited trip to India in March [read more here] and without doubt this was the catalyst for the birth of my new collection of art.

Capturing the essence of femininity ‘Adsum’ delves into the intricate balance of power, vulnerability, and strength inherent in the female spirit. With soft hues, delicate strokes, and an exuberant celebration of colour and lightness, I transport viewers into a realm of ethereal beauty and subtle energy.

Each piece evolves organically, blending whisper-soft undertones with textural overlays bursting with vibrant colours. Every mark and stroke emerges from a place of pure intuition, devoid of preconceived notions, creating a dynamic dance of energy transferred onto the canvas with each brushstroke, infusing the artwork with a palpable vitality.

As viewers immerse themselves in the captivating textures and swirling colours of my work, my hope is for them to feel a deep connection with the feminine energy — a force that is both fierce and delicate, courageous and vulnerable. It serves as a gentle reminder of the inherent power and grace that resides within each of us.

After years of self-discovery and exploration, it's evident that there has always been an artist waiting to emerge within me. Now, as a self-taught abstract painter and creative, I finally feel liberated to channel my creativity and passion into vibrant works of art. These paintings not only capture the essence of my journey but also embody the resilience and strength found within the female spirit. Here, I humbly pay homage to the essence of the divine feminine.
